  4. Ah, that's a book I will never get enough of! I try to read it as often as I can - I learn something new with every reading. I was also reading the Mahabharata but I am still in the beginning chapters because I don't have too much free time to read anymore. I really want to read other Vedic literature as well. But it's sooo vast! I want to even start reading the Vedas and see exactly what they're all about. Last night, I was researching a little on why they say shudras are not allowed to study vedic scripture. Do you know why they're not allowed to? Is there any scriptural reference for this? I highly doubt that there is, but I can't find anything on the Internet about it, except for a few links that say it is not an authentic verse, but one that has been inserted in later times for manipulation. That's why I want to study this scripture for myself and see what it all means - I'm so tired of hearing these misinterpretations that lead nowhere and make no sense at all!

This post because I wanted to provide an answer, in God's own words, about who He is - so that everyone who wants to know can have a description of Him and see Him as He has described Himself to be. And the Bhagavad Gita provides a wonderful description! I love my BG :) I couldn't live without it, lol!

  5. i do not know of that verse which you mention.
You may study the Vedas if you want to.
But, generally, around my place, girls don't usually learn it, simply because you re not allowed to say it along with the Brahmanas.
But, the thought of Vedas took me to 'Thirupaavai'.
i don't know if you have heard of it, but, it is considered to be the essence of the Vedas.
And, it is just 30 verses in Tamil by a girl in love with Krishna, madly.
i usually repeat it almost everyday, but, it is in Tamil, and absolutely beautiful-there's nothing like it.
Just tell me- have you ever heard of Aandal or Kothai?
She was an incarnation of Bhumadevi, who considered Herself to be a Gopi, and at last married Him.
You can read more about it here, a link to an old post of mine
